The desktop application
DisplayDNA reads OS-exposed display and session metadata: display names and numeric identities, raw EDID where exposed, capabilities, active modes, layout, connection changes and limited platform-specific context. Profiles may include monitor serial numbers.
The application does not capture screen contents, read clipboard payloads, inspect process arguments or window titles, record your input, or send display metadata to a cloud service. Enabled capture checks use only file metadata, matched executable names and optional clipboard format changes. The local dashboard does not require a cloud account.
Local history and exports
Snapshots, profile bytes, events, baselines and configuration are stored locally in SQLite. Retention and count limits are adjustable. The database is not encrypted by DisplayDNA; your operating system’s storage protections still apply. Stop the app before deleting its data directory.
Imports are read locally. Exports are files you choose to save and share. An exported session can contain serial numbers and historical topology, so review or redact identifying fields before sending one to anyone.
This website
Optional website analytics
Google Analytics is optional and runs only after you choose Allow analytics. Before that choice, or after you reject analytics, this website does not load Google Analytics or send analytics requests to Google. You can reopen Analytics preferences in the footer to change your choice.
When enabled, Google Analytics receives page visits and basic browser/device information, together with network request metadata such as your IP address. We omit URL query strings and fragments from the page and referrer values we send. Advertising signals and personalization are disabled. Your desktop app database, EDID, display identities and exports are never included.
Your analytics choice is stored locally in this browser. Rejecting analytics stops future collection on this site and removes its Analytics cookies; this does not delete data already received by Google. The site has no advertising pixels, tracking newsletter or embedded external media. Hosting providers may retain normal operational and security request logs.
The website does not read the desktop app’s local database or actual display profiles. The interface image on the homepage contains synthetic demo data.
Language and appearance preferences are saved locally in your browser. They are not sent to us. You can reset them in Language & accessibility.
Support correspondence
If you email support, the message and information you choose to attach pass through email providers. Do not send passwords, private keys, screen contents, or unredacted identifying exports unless they are necessary and you intend to share them.
Changes during beta
The tool is under active development. Material changes to data handling will be described here and in the changelog. Read the current privacy note when updating.
